Our Story

We are a mother-daughter duo who have a passion for candles and began crafting scented candles during the Covid lockdown. Through extensive research, experimentation, trial and error, we discovered the ideal combination of wax, fragrance, and temperature to make scented candles that burned clean and had lasting fragrance.

When we first started making candles, we had detailed discussions about how we want our candles to mean something, for our scents to resonate with us and our customers. For them to have a story.

That’s where the name Scented Stories came from.

Scents evoke memories. There are different scents we've associated with different parts of our lives. They can transport you to cherished moments and create new memories. From the warmth of vanilla embracing you like a hug to the invigorating notes of fresh motia, our collection is a symphony of fragrances designed to awaken nostalgia and kindle the spirit.

The first scented candle we made, which became and has remained our best-seller, was Motia-scented, aptly named Love Language: smells like waking up at home. The name was inspired by the the small act of love by the women of our family:

Love Language

My Nana loves the fresh sweet smell of motia, so my Nani would put a bowl of freshly plucked motia on his bedside table every morning. Her love language.

We moved next door to my Nani & she started sending over a bowl of freshly plucked motia for Ama. Again, her love language.

Ama would pluck motia during her post-Fajr walk & place them on my bedside table while I’d be asleep. I’d wake up to its familiar scent - my mother’s love language & continuance of inherited tradition.

I got married & now my husband makes sure there’s always fresh motia in the house. His love language & picking up a tradition he married into.

We planted more motia and are waiting for it to grow. To fill bowls & rooms & hearts - to continue this tradition of love that I picked from my Ama and my Nani
